Here's a selection of canalside properties between £275,000 and £375,000. Properties with mooring potential are highlighted .

Here's a selection of canalside properties for sale under £375,000. It was hard to find new ones today, so the market is still rather quiet.

I am experimenting with green blocks as a new way to highlight properties with mooring potential. What do you think?

£375,000, Elizabethan Gardens, Retford, Nottinghamshire. Backs onto the Chesterfield Canal. This looks as if it would have good mooring potential.

£365,000, Greystone Road, Great Boughton, Chester, CH3. Gate to the towpath of the Shropshire Union Canal. The map pin is not quite right. This house actually backs onto the lock.

£350,000, Canal Cottages, Buxworth, High Peak, Derbyshire, SK23. Faces the towpath of the Peak Forest Canal Buxworth Branch.

£350,000, York Place, Risca, Newport. Backs onto an unnavigable section at the southern end of the Mon and Brec Canal.

£345,000, The Slipway, Staverton, Trowbridge. Overlooking the Kennet and Avon Canal and the small Marina, where you could moor.

£330,000, Woods Close, Haskayne. Backs onto a grassy towpath on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

£329,995, Burford Close, Feniscowles, Lancashire, BB2. Wide garden which backs onto the offside of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. There may be mooring potential, although the nearby bridge and willow trees might preclude it. It's difficult to tell without a visit.

£325,000, Talybont-on-Usk, Brecon, LD3. Adjoins the towpath of the Mon and Brec Canal. I have stopped to look at this house before, and it's a cracker. The map pin isn't quite right. It is not on the B road but is up the hill behind the Traveller's Rest.

£320,000, Park Lane, Burton Waters, Lincoln, LN1. Garden gate to marina mooring off the Foss Dyke Canal.

£315,000, Cherry Tree Avenue, Church Lawton, Church Lawton. Backs onto the towpath of the Trent and Mersey Canal between locks, so you could open up the views and enjoy the passing boats.

£310,000, another at Park Lane, Burton Waters, Lincoln, LN1. Garden gate to marina mooring off the Foss Dyke Canal.

£300,000, Barge Avenue, Sowerby Bridge. Backs onto the Calder and Hebble Navigation towpath.

£300,000, Tamworth Road, Tamworth. Backs onto the Coventry Canal. Potential for a mooring but only suitable for a teeny weeny boat.

£295,000, Dale Street, Sowerby Bridge, Halifax. Development site beside the Rochdale Canal.

£279,950, Minor Avenue, Lyme Green, Macclesfield. Note that the details say the house and garden fronts on to the Macclesfield Canal, but it actually backs onto it! It is not clear from the photos but there may possibly be mooring potential here.

£275,000, Calder Terrace, Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge. Garden and patio leading onto the Rochdale Canal towpath.

£275,000, Spring Cottages, Sugar Mill Ponds, Rawcliffe Bridge, Goole, DN14. The ponds are on one side and the Aire and Calder Navigation on the other.

£275,000, Hatfield Road, Thorne, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, DN8. Side on to the Stainforth and Keadby Canal. When looking at the streetview and maps, note there are many changes here.
